A Wrexham company has shown its support for a local mental health charity by raising over £200.
To mark World Mental Health Day 2022, Wockhardt UK Limited, located on the Wrexham Industrial Estate, held an internal raffle to support Advance Brighter Futures (ABF).
The staff at the company, one of the UK’s largest generic pharmaceutical companies specializing in the manufacture and supply of branded and generic products, raised a fantastic total of £248 which was donated to ABF.
Zoe Whitehead, ABF Business Development Officer, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to the entire Wockhardt team for the generous donation.
“We are still a relatively small charity, so any donation, big or small, means a lot to us and helps the local community a lot.”
ABF is also currently working in partnership with Wockhardt by providing Mental Health First Aid training to staff and helping to establish a Mental Health First Aid team, so they can better support colleagues with their mental health in the workplace.
Fiona Duncan, Occupational Health Manager at Wockhardt, said: “I initially set up the Mental Health First Aid team here in Wockhardt last April, partly due to the increase in the number of mental health issues due to the pandemic.
“I was recommended to use Advance Brighter Futures and they have been great partners in helping me set up the team. I also like the fact that they are a charity and are local.
“The team continues to grow and they have been very proactive in using their skills to help numerous colleagues, organizing walk-in sessions and helping to organize and run a Mental Health Awareness Day, which we plan to run annually.
“The ABF team could not have been more helpful and supportive. The staff here really enjoyed the course and found the style of presentation and content to be excellent. I highly recommend ABF.”
Zoe added: “It has been fantastic working alongside Fiona to help set up the Mental Health First Aid team and you can really see the positive impact it is having on the staff.
“More and more people are struggling with their mental health, especially since the COVID pandemic, and it’s only natural that this could end up affecting their working lives, so it’s great to see companies like Wockhardt investing in their people and mental health at Here.”
