As part of Bdaily’s latest feature approach, retail Week, We heard from superdrug about their latest developments.

Superdrug, today announced that it has signed up 300 brands to the Superdrug Marketplace, which officially launches today. The platform sees brands, from premium beauty and wellness like UpCircle Beauty to Vidrate, hydration drinks, partnering with Superdrug to offer their products through the service for the first time.

The platform has been seamlessly integrated into Superdrug.com, giving customers a seamless journey to purchase products from both established brands and exciting new sellers. Third-party marketplace products will be located alongside Superdrug products on Superdrug.com and will be identifiable with a marketplace logo and banner.

Superdrug Marketplace will bring a whole new range of affordable, innovative and undiscovered products to UK consumers for the first time, with a focus on growing trends including new local, women-founded, sustainable and inclusive brands.

Brands launching in the new Marketplace include cruelty-free and ethical skincare line Up Circle, UK brand Nature Spell, women’s razor brand FFS Beauty and beauty lover favourite, Jecca Black.

Director of Marketing and Ecommerce Matt Walburn, who led the development of Marketplace at Superdrug, commented: “Marketplace is the next exciting step in our digital transformation program.

“Our intention is double; promote diversity by supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses within the industry and dramatically increase our range on Superdrug.com; expanding and strengthening our accessible offer of beauty and health to our clients”.

The Marketplace platform was developed with Mirakl, the industry’s first and most advanced enterprise marketplace, and partnered with KPS to implement Mirakl Marketplace on Superdrug’s existing SAP commerce e-commerce platform. The team was challenged to deliver the project in a very short period of time to ensure go-live was achieved before the trading peak.

Sophie Marchessou, Executive Vice President, Customer Success B2C, Mirakl, says: “Our technology has helped Superdrug bring more than 300 carefully selected partner brands to its market in time for launch. This initial growth will fuel a broader and highly curated product offering, allowing Superdrug to efficiently respond to its customers’ needs and go further.”

Branwell Moffat, Director of CX Consulting at KPS, said: “This has been a great project to be involved with and I am excited to see the positive impact this has for Superdrug and their clients. It has been a fantastic partnership between the teams at Superdrug, Mirakl and KPS who have delivered a high quality market implementation in a very short space of time.

“I can honestly say that it has been a pleasure working with the AS Watson and Superdrug team and I look forward to what we can do together in the future.”
