HYDERABAD – Schneider Electric, the world leader in energy management and automation, laid the foundation stone for its state-of-the-art smart factory at the GMR Industrial Park on Thursday. The company is investing around Rs 300 crore and the facility is expected to create employment for 1,000 job seekers.
Spread across 18 acres, the upcoming unit will be the company’s second factory in Telangana, and will serve as a harbinger of growth while building resilience in supply chain operations. The new facility will be developed in two phases. The first phase with a facility area of 2 lakh square feet is expected to be completed in September 2023.
IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, who was present at the occasion, said, “The upcoming smart factory will greatly contribute to the state’s economy, which is reinforcing its position as a leading investment destination. With India growing as an economic powerhouse, the opportunities are enormous. We believe that this facility, in addition to meeting the needs of the industry, will also increase income-generating opportunities and drive job creation.”
Emmanuel Lenain said: “This factory will be a demonstration of how cutting-edge technology can support sustainable manufacturing and job creation. It is also emblematic of the economic dynamism and attractiveness of Telangana for French businesses. Schneider Electric’s decades-long presence in India is a success story that reflects the strength of the Indo-French partnership and France’s commitment to helping India achieve its sustainable development goals.”
