SPAR NI 12 Deals of Christmas promises basket spend spike for retailers

Over 500 SPAR, EUROSPAR, ViVO, ViVOXTRA and ViVO Essentials retailers in Northern Ireland are taking part in Henderson Wholesale’s annual 12 Deals of Christmas campaign, which returns for 2022.

12 Deals of Christmas has become Henderson Wholesale’s main sales and traffic boosting initiative for its stores, with the wholesaler spending around £1.7m to provide cut-price deals for retailers to offer. to buyers.

Since its inception in 2016, retail sales have seen growth of over 67% after generating over £5.9m in sales in 2021.

The campaign takes on significant significance this year as millions of households in Northern Ireland are feeling the effects of rising household costs amidst the cost of living crisis.

“We have retailers in every city, town, village and community in Northern Ireland whose shoppers trust them to deliver value wherever possible,” said Sara Murphy, marketing manager for Henderson Group.

“This year we launched Mega Deals, where shoppers can take advantage of a deeply discounted price and high-demand product each week, which our research shows is helping shoppers with their essential purchases throughout the week.

“Christmas is weighing heavily on consumers’ shoulders this year, so we know our offerings will be highly anticipated to help with that long holiday shopping list.

“12 Deals comprises a total of 13 products over 12 weeks that can not only be stocked up for Christmas, but will also come in handy to use any day in the run-up when the budget is even tighter.”

Shoppers agree, according to the Henderson Group, with over 80% saying SPAR’s 12 Deals of Christmas campaign deals were better than supermarket prices*, and 71% saying the campaign would make them want to buy in SPAR, EUROSPAR and ViVO brand stores more frequently. *.

“Direct feedback from shoppers, coupled with strong sales growth over the last six years, shows that this is a campaign that resonates with and delivers on retailers,” said Murphy. “There is an agreement for everyone, and the expectation for the 2022 agreements is excellent. We’re excited for them to hit stores before Christmas.”

Retailers will also benefit from a fully integrated marketing campaign, costing over £525,000. TV spots will feature bargain-smashed families, unable to resist a bargain, while spots and 48 sheets will complement radio and social media activity, engaging with some of Ireland’s best-known faces from North.

Week one of the 12 Christmas Deals kicks off on September 26, with 10 and 12 packs of Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Fanta and Fanta Zero at less than half price at £3.25.
