Landsec signs multiple deals with Sweaty Betty across portfolio of major retail destinations

Landsec has announced that Sweaty Betty is expanding its presence in its portfolio of premier retail destinations. The leading British women’s sportswear brand has signed for nearly 6,000 square feet of retail space in three deals.

Sweaty Betty have launched their third UK outlet store at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth’s premier waterfront shopping destination, in a deal that sees them take over 1,700 sqft. Located on The Avenues, Sweaty Betty will sit alongside other premium brands like Belstaff, Ralph Lauren, Penhaligon’s and Coach.

In Oxford, Sweaty Betty has moved from its old city center location to Westgate, expanding to a 2,000-square-foot space on the ground floor.

Sweaty Betty’s newest central London location opened this fall in Victoria, cementing the brand’s presence in the area. So far, the 2,250-square-foot store is already performing above expectations, serving as a go-to destination for fitness and wellness enthusiasts.

The new stores will add to the range of in-demand sportswear brands offered in each destination and have been made possible by Landsec’s new customer-focused retail strategy. The latest deals with Sweaty Betty follow other multi-site deals with Adidas, which expanded its presence in Landsec outlet destinations earlier this year.

Launched in 2021, Landsec’s new approach to retail focuses on building strong relationships with brand partners, giving them a single point of contact and helping them secure the best spaces in the right locations to ensure success. Earlier this year, Landsec announced that its new strategy will be supported by a panel of retail leasing agents that redefines the traditional model. The panel aligns Landsec agent partners with specific brands and sectors, creating a more transparent process that encourages a broad partnership-led portfolio approach.

Nik Porter, Landsec’s director of retail brand account management commented: “Brands are focused on expanding into high-performing spaces in flagship and mainstream destinations. These top spaces have an important role to play in driving brand awareness, enable in-person customer service and facilitate growth Our new strategy allows us to work with a brand like Sweaty Betty holistically to find the right spaces in our core destination portfolio so they can thrive.”

smith brand, Sweaty Betty’s COO said: “Working in partnership with Landsec to grow our footprint means we can engage with more customers across the UK and give them even better in-store experiences. We are focused on growth, so be in the right place and meeting

buyers where they are is key. Westgate and Gunwharf Quays, in particular, are the top retail destinations in their region, making them the obvious choice when we were looking to expand.”
