Stores range from 3,800 square feet, serving their local neighborhoods, to large 18,000 square foot stores offering a variety including dedicated PEP&CO apparel and homeware departments.

In total, the new stores will have nearly 100,000 square feet of space.

Poundland said he is preparing to get stores ready for “Super Saturday” on December 10.

This includes expanding and creating a large store at Crown Point Shopping Park, Denton, Greater Manchester, with 18,342 square feet of space over two floors, with 55 colleagues, including 20 new hires.

It will relocate its store at Brotherhood Retail Park, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, from the former Outfit and H&M units, to create a large store with 18,000 square feet of space, with 40 colleagues, including 28 new employees.

A new store will open at Greenbridge Retail Park, Swindon, Wiltshire, in a former Argos, covering almost 7,000 square feet and employing 15 colleagues.

A new store is to open at Aylesbury Shopping Park, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, in a former Argos, over 14,000 square feet, employing 15 colleagues.

Another new store will open at Rushmere Retail Park, Craigavon, Northern Ireland, in what was formerly Menary’s, spanning 14,500 square feet over two floors and employing 32 colleagues.

All stores will offer a wide selection of everyday essentials including groceries, beverages and snacks, as well as a fresh range of health and beauty, entertainment, stationery and craft items.

There will also be wider ranges of refrigerated and frozen food and clothing and homeware from PEP&CO, with larger stores providing the choice and shopping experience customers expect from large grocery stores.

Poundland said the opening of eight stores in one day has required a major effort from Poundland’s retail and property teams to carry out the necessary build-out and shelf-ready refurbishment work, with the support of contractors, estate agents and local councils.
