One hundred thousand nursing staff will go on strike next month, the Royal College of Nursing has confirmed.
The RCN has published the list of trusts affected by the historic action, with 44 of the 219 NHS trusts in England voting in favor of the strikes.
In Wales, staff from six of the seven health boards and Northern Ireland’s six trusts will also face strike action.
The RCN did not confirm exactly how many employees at each trust voted in favor of the strike, however, the workers have until the day of the strike to decide whether to not work and join the strike.
Nurses who work outside of hospitals, such as those in commissioning organizations called integrated care boards, also voted to take action.
The union plans to hold its first day of strike on Thursday 15 December and its second on Tuesday 20 December.
NHS trusts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will negotiate in the coming week over staffing levels with union representatives over what services they can keep.
