Applications for the L’Oréal Green Science Incubator 2023 now they are open. L’Oréal Green Sciences Incubator is looking for innovative solutions to embark on its innovation journey. Through this call, L’Oréal GSI will offer a unique opportunity for selected start-ups to collaborate with L’Oréal and reveal their potential.

The Green Science Incubator provides the perfect environment to support start-ups in their development. Led by L’Oréal’s Open Innovation team, the Green Science Incubator was created to support L’Oréal’s Commitments for the Future.


The collaboration will be tailored to the needs of your startup and will include:

  • Co-innovative mentality: share a common project, team and space.
  • A common team: collaborate with a wide range of L’Oréal experts.
  • Access to L’Oréal resources: benefit from privileged access to L’Oréal’s laboratory facilities.

Incubation programs, depending on your needs, will range from an incubation at L’Oréal research sites to a full-time incubation at the Genopole Innovation Campus.


You can apply if you are:

  • He currently operates in another sector besides cosmetics and would like to transpose his innovative solution to join the cosmetics industry with the support of L’Oréal.
  • He currently operates in the cosmetics industry and would like to accelerate his solutions thanks to this collaboration.

They are looking for innovative solutions that work on:

  • Biotechnology and Fermentation – cultivating microorganisms (bacteria, yeasts, microalgae, fungi) or cells (animal or plant) in bioreactors or controlled environments.
  • sustainable cultivationcultural practices and technologies that aim to manage water resources, respect biodiversity and soil quality, limit land use footprint and carbon emissions while providing macroscopic organisms (plants, fungi, and algae) for innovation.
  • Green extraction and physical processes – Environmentally friendly technology that leads to a final ingredient without any (bio)chemical transformation of the natural resources of abundant plants, algae, fungi, μorganisms, cells or minerals.
  • green chemistrydesign of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use/generation of hazardous substances.

The L’Oréal Green Sciences incubator is especially looking for solutions that address:

  • Key Commodity Challenges: ecological and non-ecotoxic alternatives for cationic polymers/silicones, thickeners, solvents, UV filters, colorants; sustainable and biodegradable polymers, proteins as functional materials
  • Key cosmetic functions for skin and hair benefits: washing, care, coloring and color control, repair, optical effects, sensoriality, long-lasting, water-resistance, shape control, protection and correction of the skin, adherence, shine, rejuvenation, hygiene without water
  • Innovative Techniques: Synbio, microbial/enzymatic fermentations, cell culture, water/enzyme/microwave extraction, artificial photosynthesis, surfactant-free processes, water management, circularity
