Since its acquisition of Odisha Discoms over the past two years, Banga said the company has made significant progress in various aspects of power distribution to improve power supply reliability.

Stating that the company has done a comprehensive analysis of the state’s power supply network and identified major issues and upgrade requirements, Banga said that is helping us ensure reliable power supply in the state.

“We are now increasing our capital investment to ensure an uninterrupted supply of energy to our consumers, including industrial and commercial establishments.” said Banga.

The company has committed a capex of approximately Rs 5000 crore over the next five years covering the areas of upgrading and augmenting networks and infrastructure, technical integration, customer services, security and others.

He said the company’s Odisha Discoms has also launched a smart metering unit for industrial, commercial and government consumers. This initiative will lead to better consumption analytics that will result in personalized service and energy optimization among customers in the high-consumption category, she said.

In response to a question about consumer complaints about alleged overbilling, Banga said: “These smart meters are accredited by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) and certified by BIS (Bureau of Standards of the India) and are supplied by the country’s leading smart meter manufacturers.

While thanking the OERC for streamlining the industrial rate in the latest rate order, the company said Discoms believes the industrial rate will drop further in coming years due to the integration of increased renewable power purchase (RPO) compliance. ).

“Tata Power is committed to integrating power generated from solar and wind power into the energy mix. This will help Odisha’s industries meet their green and sustainable energy goals. Banga said Tata Power Odisha Discoms was confident of reducing AT&C’s overall level of losses in the range of 10 to 12 percent in the coming years.
