Chandigarh: Punjab Minister of Investment, Labor and Tourism Promotion, Ms. Anmol Gagan Mann, said here today that “Under the visionary leadership of S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister, Government of Punjab, pro-industry policies they have attracted investments worth ₹21000 crores in the state. The influx of new industries and startups is expected to create more than 90,000 job opportunities in Punjab.
She was leading a session on ‘Promoting Industrial Growth and Investment in Punjab’ with a focus on Ease of Doing Business, Tourism, Tax, Energy and Labor organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries, in Chandigarh.
“I welcome all industrialists to invest in Punjab, especially in the agricultural and food processing sectors, and give their suggestions to improve the investment climate in Punjab,” he said, adding that the state government is working to provide a seamless experience for the new industries and investors as they establish their businesses in Punjab. Highlighting the strength of the industrial environment in the state, the cabinet minister shared that connectivity in terms of roads, railways and airways is conducive to promoting industrial investment in the region. The Government of Punjab has also secured the availability of leased land. Simplifying processes such as single window systems and time-bound incentives have been instrumental in attracting entrepreneurs and businesses alike.
During the session, the CII Punjab State Council formally submitted its recommendations to the State Government regarding the New Industrial and Investment Policy 2022 for the State. The key objective of the session was to deliberate on these recommendations, representing the views of renowned captains of industry in Punjab.
Member, Rajya Sabha (AAP) and President of Sun Foundation, Mr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney shared some suggestions to promote industrial growth in Punjab. He suggested establishing a focal point in the State in the Public-Private Partnership model. He also proposed boosting the agricultural value chain and exploring international markets to boost agricultural exports.
Principal Secretary – Energy, Tourism and Cultural Affairs and Governance Reforms and Grievance Redress, Government of Punjab, Mr. Tejveer Singh said, “As part of the G20 summit, we have a great opportunity to showcase heritage cities like Amritsar in Punjab to enhance tourism in the state. Punjab has huge potential and collectively we should strive to boost the tourism sector by attracting investment.”
Principal Secretary – Industries, Trade and Investment Promotion, Government of Punjab, Mr. Dilip Kumar shared that the draft New Industrial Policy 2022 for Punjab is ready and shared with industry and potential investors for review. He welcomed suggestions and comments on it.
Executive Director of Punjab Investment Promotion Bureau and Commissioner – Excise and Taxes, Punjab, Mr. Kamal Kishor Yadav said that the Government of Punjab is in the process of creating a policy in which care will be taken care back suitable for industry, especially for out-of-state investors
In addition to the above mentioned dignitaries who attended the session, Mr. Manvesh Sidhu, Labor Secretary, Punjab, Mr. Amit Thapar, President – CII Punjab State and President, Ganga Acrowools Limited; Mr. Sachit Jain, former President of CII Northern Region and Vice President and General Manager of Vardhman Special Steels; and Dr. PJ Singh, Vice Chairman of CII Punjab State and Chairman and CEO of Tynor Orthotics Private Limited were also present at the session.
