Panají (Goa) [India]Oct 7 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, at the opening of the INVEST-GOA 2022 summit on Friday, urged investors to invest in Goa and said the state has the logistics to set up their companies .
He called on GCCI and the Investment Promotion Board to help investors set up their companies and make Goa a preferred investment destination for investors. He also said that Goa has good road, rail and air connectivity to meet the needs of industries.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant spoke after opening the INVEST-GOA SUMMIT 2022, an event organized by GCCI in association with the Government of Goa, FICCI and Invest India.
The Chief Minister said that although Goa intends to invest in the industrial sector, it would prefer green industries. He urged investors to partner in Goa’s industrial growth to work together to make the new India Mission a success.
“Industries Minister Shri Mauvin Godinho thanked GCCI for organizing such an event on behalf of the Government and said that Goa has all kinds of infrastructure needed for industrial growth. Shri Godinho urged investors from all over to invest in the industrial sector and become partners of Goa industrial growth, let us grow together to boost the nation’s economy,” he added.
Former Union Railway Minister and keynote speaker Suresh Prabhu said that Goa has its own industrial policy which is investor friendly and it is the best place to invest and it is the right time to be here in Goa. Goa is the best business-friendly place and also a place to relax, he remarked.
He advised making Goa the first ESG Compliant State as it is the right place to host events like the World Economic Forum. Goa has the potential to become a forum for start-ups and, being a small state, is ideal for venturing into World Design hubs for the world, the state would earn revenue from royalties, he commented.
Information and Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte said, “Investment and industry is something that Goa is looking for. The government is striving for its industrial growth in which IT has a critical role to play in making Goa a knowledge destination. and make the Swayampiurna Goa mission successful.
He further said that Goa has its own policy and the Government has started steps to develop infrastructure from access to WIFI services in all districts. A startup under the IT policy is a game changer in the industry sector looking for the right investment in the IT sector. Apart from IT Infrastructure, we aim to make Goa a Tourism and Creative Capital of the Country, he added.
Nicole Faria, a young businesswoman from Navelim, was congratulated by the Chief Minister at the event.
MLA Reginaldo Lourence, Chief Secretary for Finance Dr. V. Condavelou, IAS, President, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries Shri Pratik Patwari, Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Shri Lalit Gandhi, industry stakeholders and others attended to the function.
The proceedings of the said meeting started with the signing of MoUs between the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industries and BITS PILANI Shri Lalit Gandhi and Dr. Suman Kundu did the honour.
