Global Agrifood Techpreneur Programme 2023

Global Agrifood Techpreneur Programme 2023

Deadline: February 20, 2023

Applications are open for the Global Agri-Food Technology Entrepreneurs Program 2023. The global agri-food technology entrepreneur focuses on helping young graduates to participate in solving the main food sustainability challenges in their country to improve food production and distribution, end hunger, end obesity and malnutrition and prevent food waste. Its priority is to promote sustainable local food production and distribution.

How does it work

  • Each year, young graduates are invited to submit an application on a food system challenge in their country and their solution to address it. All qualified proposals submitted for the AgriFood TechPreneur program will be promoted in March as they celebrate World Engineering for Sustainable Development Day. All qualified Agri-Food TechPreneurs will enroll in a 6-week interactive course on Entrepreneurship, Technology and Sustainability in the Food System starting in April and supported by RBS through the Business Builder platform. They are also working with world-class business schools around the world to ensure that the course case studies are highly informative and impactful. All agri-food TechPreneurs will have access to the World Food Tracker free of charge for one year to plan their farm setup and sell their agri-food products. They are happy to provide this incredible support to agri-food tech entrepreneurs while also providing additional benefits such as sustainable sourcing of nutrients, seeds, fingerlings/fry, chicks, piglets, etc., as well as sustainable farm machinery.
  • Where appropriate, Agri-Food TechPreneurs will adjust their proposals based on the knowledge they have gained during the 6-week interactive course on Entrepreneurship, Technology and Sustainability in the Food System. The updated proposal will be shared with the panel of experts for their evaluation and recommendation for support. All the support that is made available to AgroFood TechPreneurs will depend on the quality of their proposal, their participation in the 6-week interactive course on Entrepreneurship, Technology and Sustainability in the Food System, and the support that their partners can provide them. These supports will be announced in June on the occasion of the celebration of the World Day of Sustainable Gastronomy; providing more visibility to agri-food technology entrepreneurs. Through their partnership with financial institutions, they will support agri-food TechPreneurs to apply for funding to start or scale up their solution by improving their business plan based on learning from the 6-week interactive course on Entrepreneurship, Technology and Sustainability in the Food System. When a small-scale trial is feasible, they will encourage the agri-food TechPreneur to explore it as it will further their business plan.
