A little cottage with a very big view: This one-bedroom property in West Cork overlooks Dunworley Bay from its sloping three-quarter-acre plot.

“Called Dunworley View, it was built as a summer house about 35 years ago, and it has incredible views,” says Maeve McCarthy of Charles McCarthy, citing a €290,000 guidebook.

With just 46 square meters of living space and BER exempt due to its size, it is a traditional style country house with stone cladding on the gable. It needs some reform and modernization, it has electric heating, running water and a septic tank. Ms McCarthy says the size of the site gives the buyer the option of applying for planning permission for an extension.

Inside the small cabin there is a living/dining/kitchen area with some fitted units, as well as a bedroom and a bathroom with a shower.

Ms McCarthy says the property is attracting interest from vacation home buyers but could be considered by a buyer looking to convert it into a family home.

“This is a rare opportunity to purchase a seaside hideaway in a highly sought after seaside location,” he adds.

Located in Lislevane, Dunworley View is across the road from a slipway and is a 20-minute walk from Moloney’s strand, a sandy beach popular with swimmers. Located across the bay from Dunworley Beach, the property is seven kilometers from Timoleague and 15 kilometers from Clonakilty.

VERDICT: It offers excellent views and many possibilities.
