CHRISTMAS ANNOUNCEMENTS
The 2022 holiday announcements are coming at full speed and some of the country’s biggest supermarkets and fashion brands have dropped their long-awaited deals.
Heathrow
Heathrow Airport has launched a 60-second feel-good advert called “The Gift” which shows a couple in Terminal 2, drinking champagne to toast their impending festive getaway, just the two of them. However, the mother seems sad that the couple will spend Christmas without her children for the first time, especially when she sees a family with children laughing excitedly in the airport terminal before their Christmas flight.
Argus
The Argos announcement celebrates the welcome return of fun-loving, chaotic holiday gatherings.
Very
Online retailer Very was the first major brand to launch its Christmas ad in 2022, releasing a 40-second film set to the soundtrack of Wizzard’s universally loved Christmas classic ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day’.
The ad shows a family enjoying multiple festive occasions, celebrating how Christmas can be so much more than just one day.
Lidl
Lidl’s new Christmas ad features a teddy bear embarking on his journey from humble beginnings to mainstream fame. Lidl Bear is ready to break many hearts across the country with his cutesy face and irresistible good looks of him in Lidl’s Christmas ad. The campaign asks families to donate gifts to the supermarket’s toy bank charity initiative.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s has teamed up with Alison Hammond, who plays the hard-to-please Countess Hammond, who certainly doesn’t like Christmas desserts, that is, until she tries the caramel biscuit version.

Morrisons brings back the festive hero ‘Farmer Christmas’ for the second year in a row and also features many of the supermarket’s own employees.
TK Maxx
TK Maxx has launched its Christmas campaign, titled Nail Christmas for Less. It features Sam, who has perfected his seasonal gifts and received a flurry of congratulations from everyone who presents them with gifts.

Disney has released a “From Our Family to Yours” Christmas advertising trilogy in support of Make-A-Wish.
Matalan
Matalan department store has revealed its Narnia-style advertisement for Christmas 2022, called The Christmas Cupboard. Step into the magical wardrobe and you’ll find just about everything you need for you, your friends and family this holiday season.
Asda
Asda went all out this Christmas with the arrival of Buddy the Elf, played by Will Ferrell! The fun and very festive ad features some clips from the original Elf movie and freshly shot footage. The ad is set to Santa Claus is Coming to Town and is full of references to the original 2003 film.
M&S foods
This year’s Marks and Spencer Christmas food ad features Dawn French in her role as the Christmas Fairy, who is joined by Jennifer Saunders.
Barbour
Fashion label, Barbour, has released its adorable Christmas ad, One of a Kind-ness, starring none other than Paddington Bear.
In the ad, Paddington wonders what present he should get for his neighbor, Mr. Curry, who is a bit of a Scrooge. The bear stumbles upon a Barbour store that sells one-of-a-kind jackets, the perfect gift for a one-of-a-kind neighbor.

Sports Direct has released a trio of 20-second ads as part of its 2022 Christmas campaign featuring some of the biggest names in sport. The commercial series stars Eric Cantona, Thierry Henry, Mason Mount, Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen, Emma Hayes, Gabriel Jesus and iconic football commentator Clive Tyldesley. Each playful ad reflects the classic holiday themes that normally grace television screens during the holiday season, but with a comical football twist.

J.D. Sports Christmas campaign – ‘King of the Game’ features actor Cole Wealleans-Watts doing Christmas shopping with his family. Just as the boredom sets in, he sees Chunkz (YouTube star and host) who invites him into the ‘JD Arcade’.

The Debenhams.com advert features Rachel Stevens and Jess Wright ringing in the festive season in style. From the morning hustle and bustle of opening presents to the start of the Christmas dinner cooking marathon, we see families and friends gather together to revel in the joy of Christmas and the happiness it brings.
Boots
Boots has brought out the star power for its Christmas ad with It’s A Sin actress Lydia West as Holly, the woman who found the most magical glasses ever. When she puts them on, she can see what makes everyone happy at Christmas. At the end of the clip, it is revealed that the glasses have a very special owner, none other than Santa Claus himself.
