A Covid vaccination clinic is scheduled to open for Farnworth and Kearsley residents after they had to travel to other parts of the district to receive the vaccine.
Bolton GP Federation has secured funding from the GM Health Inequalities and Access fund. you
The federation is in the process of organizing sessions in high need areas to specifically address health inequalities from the covid vaccine. These sessions will be announced as soon as they are operational.
Once finished, the sessions will be announced.
Stonehill Medical Center on Piggott Street in Farnworth is considering opening up walk-ins for anyone in the borough who is eligible to be vaccinated, however plans need to be fully worked out.
Harper Green Councilor Sue Haworth says: “Residents have contacted local councilors to request access to Covid-19 vaccination in Farnworth.
“Plodder Lane people looked for a reservation and complained that the availability of the reservation was for Breightmet.
“They complain that they have a car and they will travel with little inconvenience and they don’t care about themselves, but the people who live near them don’t have a vehicle and that bothers them. They feel that the offer is not correct at all.”
Covid vaccinations at Farnworth and Kearsley are currently only available to those registered with specific centers.
Cllr Haworth added: “I really hope that the plans at Stonehill Medical Center can come to fruition, as this would offer a convenient site for more residents in Kearsley, Farnworth and other nearby parts of the Bolton borough.
“It is clear that people in Farnworth want more from their own provision of quality healthcare and they want access to vaccines in their town.”
