Arkane finally confirms, yes, Deathloop is set in the Dishonored universe

by Ozva Admin

Ever since Deathloop’s release last year, fans have speculated that the critically acclaimed time-loop shooter was, in fact, set in the same universe as Arkane Studios’ much-loved Dishonored series, and now theorists can finally get a taste of it. pat on the back. and package your cork boards: the developer has confirmed that this is the case.

Creative director Dinga Bakaba broke the news during the latest episode of xbox podcast (Thank you pc gamer), confirming that Deathloop is “one of the futures of the world of Dishonored”.

When asked directly about the possible connection between the two games, Bakaba explained: “We have various systems [that mean] not everyone has seen the same [in Deathloop], not everyone has heard the same song hidden somewhere, not everyone has seen every room. So it was nice to see the community pick up on the little hints that we scattered everywhere that, yes indeed, we envision Deathloop happening in the future after [the third Dishonored game] The death of the stranger”.

“It’s something we didn’t want to do. [too big a deal about]Bakaba continued, because [Deathloop is] its own story, with its own character, its own time period that we wanted to develop… But at the same time, after Death of the Outsider… we always wondered what would happen after that. And while we were doing Deahtloop, we were like, ‘Hey, that might be one of the things that could happen.’

“There’s a certain timeline to tie that in, and there’s a lot of clues actually in the game. Some that are obvious, one of them is really a spoiler, and voila, but there’s [are] a lot of little things, and some that were under people’s noses all the time [that they’re just now] finding out.”

Bakaba pointed to Deathloop’s Heritage shotgun as his favorite example of this, noting the small logo on its side that, for a long time, was barely visible. However, since Arkane gave the protagonist Colt idle animations in the recent goldenloop updateit is now possible to clearly see that the logo actually represents Dunwall tower from Dishonored.

“So there’s a lot of little things like that,” Bakaba continued, “and then you can start saying, ‘Hey, wait a minute, if this is the world of Dishonored, where can it happen? And then you can just follow along and everything makes sense”.

Bakaba also explained that if players step back to look at the world as a whole, they’ll notice more similarities between Dishonored and Deathloop, from their magic and technology to their classes and inequalities. “Even though that’s something those characters run away from [in Deathloop]”, he added, “you can see that those differences are still there.”

“We try to see everything as an evolution,” Bakaba concluded, “but every time [the characters] mentioned the past, or we were vague enough or we naturally disguised the names. For example, they talk about the homeland and not about Tyvia, but… once you know that, you can unravel everything and, yes, it makes sense. It was nice for us to imagine one of the futures of the world of Dishonored. ”

Deathloop was recently released for Xbox after a year of PlayStation console exclusivity, and it’s now available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC. So if you feel like waiting around and trying to make those Dishonored connections for yourself, now is the perfect time.
